Ruben Felix has coached in the Major Leagues for 5 seasons most recently with the Baltimore Orioles in 2009-2008, 3 seasons for the Cleveland Indians (2006-2004) and in the AAA Mexican Pacific Coast Winter League for the Culiacan Tomateros in 2007. He has also coached for Team USA Baseball twice(WBC 2009,2007 16U World Champions) in his career most recently this past 2009 season in the World Baseball Classic Tournament where he coached MLB stars Derek Jeter, Jimmy Rollins, Shane Victorino, Kevin Youkolis, Dustin Pedoria, Le Troy Hawkins, Brian Roberts, Curtis Granderson, Johnathan Broxton, Chipper Jones, Ted Lilly, Mark De Rosa, Brian McCann, Health Bell, JP Howell, Scott Shields,Adam Dunn, Roy Oswalt, Jake Peavy, Evan Longoria and JJ Putz.

Prior to Ruben’s tenure in Major League Baseball he was a collegiate coach for 5 seasons. He coached at Texas Tech University for 2 seasons(2000-1999) and was the Head and Assistant Baseball Coach for 3 seasons at Galveston Junior College(2003-2001) in Galveston, Texas. Ruben played in the minor leagues here in the United States and Mexico for 6 different minor league teams. Milwaukee Brewers-Stockton Ports single-A California League and the Single-A Midwest League 1995 Champions Beloit Snappers, Lubbock Crickets AA (1998-1996) Texas Louisana League, AAA Los Mochis Sugarcane Growers and Navojoa Mayos(1996-1994), Corpus Christi Barracudas AA Texas Louisana League Champions 1994.

Ruben was born and raised in El Paso, Texas in a baseball playing family. Ruben played collegiate baseball at national power Howard Junior College, Dodge City Community College, New Mexico State University and Lubbock Christian University.His twin brother Lauro Felix Jr. was an All-American at Western New Mexico University in 1991. He then transfered to New Mexico State University where he was drafted in 1992 by the Oakland Athletics where he was a Big West All-Conference infielder along with future Major Leaguers Jason Giambi, Chris Gomez and Phil Nevin. Lauro played professional baseball for 12 seasons from AAA-A with Oakland Athletics, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago White Sox, Olmecas de Tabasco, Guererros de Oaxaca, Broncos de Reynosa, Los Mochis Sugarcane Growers, Culiacan Tomateros, Atlantic City Surf, Newark Bears and The Tri City Posse. His youngest brother Geno Felix also played professional baseball for the Lafayette Bullfrogs of the Texas Louisana League in 1998. Ruben’s father Lauro Felix was a star shortstop in semi- professional baseball and fast pitch softball for over 30 years on traveling teams from all over West Texas, New Mexico and Mexico. Ruben also has an older brother Nick Felix who lives Anaheim, California, a younger sister Valerie who is a nurse aid in El Paso and his mother Dora Felix is a mental health therapist for The El Paso State Center where she has worked for over 30 years.

Ruben met his beautiful wife and best friend Michelle while playing minor league baseball in Lubbock, Texas in 1996. They have been married 11 years and have a wonderful 3 year old boy named Matthew Ripken Felix.
